The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) had on the 22 nd
of June, 2022 hosted its first Inspirational Leadership Reflection Interactive Series
(ILERIS) in Itas, Itas/Gadau LGA, Bauchi State. The inaugural ILERIS session
featured Dr. Yahaya Sa’ad, Itas, Sub-Dean, Faculty of Sciences at Bauchi State
University, Gadau as the esteemed guest speaker.
The event commenced with a welcome remarks by Muneeb Yusuf, CITAD’s
Program Officer Itas Office setting the tone for the enlightening discussions to
follow. Isah Garba, Senior Program Officer, CITAD laid the foundation for the
program by highlighting a brief history of CITAD for the participants to understand
the aims behind the establishment of the organization and the objectives of
ILERIS and CITAD's vision behind initiating the series. Emphasizing the need to
address youth development issues and reshape their perspectives on success. Mr.
Garba underscored the importance of understanding the journey and struggles
behind individuals' accomplishments. According to him CITAD initiated the
programme to address issues around youth misperception of how people develop
and excel in life as well as appreciate the difficulties, challenges and travails of
individuals that exceled in life by bringing those who attained life
accomplishments and excelled in their area of endeavours to speak directly to the
youth on the personal life experience and struggle. The idea is to make the young
people to understand that nothing comes easy and prepare them to confront life
challenges that may come their way in the process of their growth.
to achieve these objectives, CITAD invited Dr Yahaya Sa’ad, an accomplished
young scholar with about 32 publications who is the Sub-Dean, School of
Sciences, Bauchi State University, Gadau to serve as the guest. To stimulate the
discussion, Dr Yahaya led the young people present at the event through his
personal life, the challenges he encountered; right from career choice, admissions
problem, life and difficulties in school workplace relationship. Discussing about
strategies to explore opportunities, the guest speaker noted that his quest for
exploration and knowledge led him to learn Yoruba language in one year of his
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinese Language in his two years of studies
in China, and how he utilizes these languages to achieve a lot in terms of business
and other privileges.
Concluding the interactive session, Dr. Yahaya mentioned that the secret of his
growth and accomplishments lays in self-realization, hard work, trust, prayers,
respect for the elderly and lenience to those under him. And above all, respect for
his parents and trust in God. He concluded.
Interacting with the special guest, participants asked questions and guest
provided answers that further inspired the participants to the closing two
prominent elders in the town Alh. Sani Magaji, Alh. Gambo Idris Danmasanin Itas
also made.
The interactive Q&A session further inspired participants, with Dr. Yahaya Sa’ad's
insightful responses providing valuable lessons and motivation. The event also
received contributions from esteemed community members, Alh. Sani Magaji and
Alh. Gambo Idris Danmasanin, adding depth and wisdom to the program. Alh Sani
Magaji a former staff of NDIC pledged to not only attend the next episode but
also mobilized others to participate. He called on the youth to expand their
mobilizations to other youth within and outside Itas so that many people will
benefit from the inspirations.
This memorable event took place at the council chamber of the Itas/ Gadau local
government secretariat, in Itas .There were about 45 people in attendance with
43 males and two males.
