Are you passionate about empowering young entrepreneurs and making a positive impact in their lives?
The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), in collaboration with the British
Council and King’s Trust International, are seeking experienced and dedicated mentors to guide and
support participants in the Sustainable Enterprise Challenge Project in Kano State.
This project aims to provide comprehensive training to 70 young individuals in Kano, equipping them
with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive as entrepreneurs and enhance
their employability. As a mentor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these aspiring
entrepreneurs by offering guidance and support in developing their soft skills.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide valuable guidance and support to participants in refining their business ideas.
– Share industry knowledge and expertise in areas such as entrepreneurship, business ideation and
development, financial management, marketing, and more.
– Foster a supportive and encouraging environment to help participants build their confidence,
communication, and critical thinking skills.
– Assist participants in preparing to pitch their business ideas effectively.
– Offer ongoing mentorship and advice to help participants bring their business ideas to fruition.
Eligibility Criteria for Mentors:
1. Proven experience in entrepreneurship, business development, or a related field.
2. Ability to apply inclusive, effective, and engaging methodologies in a safe and supportive
environment.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Commitment of at least two to three hours per week to mentor a group of 5-6 mentees from
November 2024 to March 2025.
5. Willingness to attend a two-day workshop on mentorship methodology.
6. Business experience and a background in owning or supporting a business.
7. Capability to provide practical advice and support on business operations.
