The Kano Social Influencers Summit (KANSIS24) organized by Center for TInformation Technology and Development (CITAD) was held on 18th to 19th of September, 2024 at Grand Central Hotel in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.
The two-day summit has as its theme, “Artificial Intelligence in Election and
Governance: Between the Potentials for Enhancement of Processes and the Perils of
Digital Surveillance and Misrepresentation”.
The event was organised by CITAD, in partnership with MacArthur Foundation, Ford
Foundation, JARIDA, Lenovo, ActionAid, Arewa Radio, Association of Progressive
Communications, Meta, CITAD Academy, and FOMBINA Imprint.
Over 1000 in-persons, as well as several online participants drawn from the 36 states
of Nigeria, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as well as foreign participants
drawn from Germany, Uganda, Kenya, and Niger Republic took part in the two-day
programme.
During the event, several researched academic papers were delivered in 5 plenary
sessions, and 16 parallel -panel discussions presided over by experts drawn from both
public and private sectors.
The experts that delivered papers were drawn from civil society groups, academia,
media establishments, student organisations, and traditional institutions from within
and outside Nigeria
