INTERNATIONAL DAY OF GIRLS IN ICT

Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) Abuja Office marked the international girls in ICT on 25th April 2019. with the theme “Expand Horizon, Change Attitude”
International day of girls in ICT is celebrated to ensure that highly qualified women in technical fields have significant opportunities available to them and to contributes to the equal mission of bridging the gender digital divide.
The celebration was held in Gaube Community, Kuje Area Council of FCT with over 30 young girls in attendance ranging from 5 years to 15 years.
It was a memorable experience as the aim is to ensure girls develop careers in ICT sector as there are few women in the sector.
In attendance was the Hakimi of Gaube who appreciates the effort of the Centre in bringing the celebration to Gaube Community.
The young girls were happy as most of them develop interest and preparing themselves for studies in Maths, computer science, engineering and so on.
In view of this, the Girls promise to make use of the ICT Centre in their Community to learn more as the celebration has  encouraged them to have interest in ICT.
