The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has trained staff members of Premier Radio 102.7 FM, Kano, on dComms and the Fediverse as alternatives to mainstream social media platforms.
The training, held on Nov. 27, 2025, was led by Yusuf Babagana of CITAD’s Technical Department.
The participants were introduced to dComms and the Fediverse, which allow people to communicate and interact online outside the major social media platforms.
The training also explained how decentralised platforms give users and organisations more choices in how they communicate and share information online.
Following the training, Premier Radio opened an account on dComms, showing its interest in exploring the alternative platform.
The Chairman of Premier Radio, Malam Abba Dabo, thanked CITAD for organising the training and commended the organisation for its efforts to promote awareness of alternative social media platforms.
He appreciated CITAD’s work in helping media organisations learn about new ways to communicate and engage with their audiences online.
CITAD has continued to promote dComms and the Fediverse among media organisations, students and other groups to encourage the use of alternative social media platforms and give people more choices in their online communication.
