Tantancewa fact-checkers have spotted a viral statement of result which has been widely shared
especially on WhatsApp groups with name and logo of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The
result which carries the name, ‘AL’AMIN HARUNA’ and claimed it was issued on December 4,
2025 has ‘Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) as course of study and ‘with first class lower
division’ as grade. Several groups have shared the statement of result that it had gained the
‘forwarded many times’ tag. It was also observed that the result shared on Facebook and X
platforms with people debating on it.
Fact:
Our investigation found the viral statement of result bearing Ahmadu Bello University Zaria’s
name, logo and Al’amin Haruna as owner is fake and was not issued by the University. Registrar
of the University, Malam Rabiu Samaila confirmed the statement of result is fake. According to
Malam Rabiu, the fake result missed important features such as lacking matriculation number,
writing name of the result owner written all in capital letters, and more importantly the name is
not on their graduates list.
The registrar added that while the serial number on the result belongs to a genuine certificate for
a different graduate who had 2.2, the fake statement of result in circulation lacked other security
features on it, which reinforces how fake it is.
