CALL FOR APPLICATIONS AND TOPICS: Kano Social Influencers Summit 2024

Kano Social Influencers Summit (KANSIS) is an annual event organized by the Centre for
Information Technology and Development (CITAD). The summit is an event that features
presentations and panel sessions during which experts discuss and debate topical issues
that relate to development in our society. This year’s summit will be the fifth in the series.
The theme for this year is “Artificial Intelligence in Election and Governance: Between the
Potentials for Enhancement of Processes and the Perils of Digital Surveillance and
Misrepresentation” with the followings as the sub-themes:
1. AI and the Search for Accountability through Ethical Standards
2. Technology use in Election?
3. Agenda setting for AI Deployment
4. AI, Social media and electoral conflicts and disputes
5. Role of Social Influencers in safeguarding privacy and digital rights in the era of AI
6. Will AI curb or facilitate more of misinformation?
7. Responding to anti-AI narratives
8. Crazy ideas presentations
9. Drama, Poetry and Music and question of authenticity in the content of AI
10. How will AI promote transparency, accountability and curb corruption.
11. AI, job creation and the Labour Rights
12. Engaging the Policy Framework in Nigeria for AI Deployment
13. Special panels on agenda setting for new governments.
14. Cashless Policy
15. Will Emerging Technologies take over our Work?
16. Is AI Threat to Our Privacy and Security?
Like the previous summits (KANSIS 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023), the summit will be attended
by the academia, researchers, technology experts, professionals, development partners,
artists, film-makers, and other social influencers.
Now that we have a new governments, it is important to see what role AI can/will play in
terms of improving transparency and ensuring good governance, especially in tracking what
candidates promised and the demand for accountability.
This year’s KANSIS will be held on the 18th and 19th September, 2024
To become a part of this year’s summit and seize the opportunity to learn from distinguished experts who will share their
invaluable experiences in the effective use of AI. The summit also calls on qualified and
interested people to apply for parallel sessions by indicating the sub-theme they would like
to be part of.
