As part of its ongoing efforts to promote digital inclusion and improve access to technology-enabled education, the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has strengthened its partnership with the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) to advance digital learning in secondary schools across Kano State.
The renewed commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a CITAD delegation to the KSSSSMB, where discussions focused on expanding ICT-based educational programmes and creating greater opportunities for students to acquire critical digital skills.
Over the years, CITAD has remained at the forefront of promoting the use of technology for social and educational development, implementing various initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy, improving access to ICT tools, and preparing young people for an increasingly technology-driven world. Through its interventions in selected secondary schools, the organization has supported efforts to expose students to digital learning opportunities and build their capacity to navigate the digital age.
Speaking during the meeting, the Executive Secretary of KSSSSMB, Rabi’u Sale Gwarzo, represented by the Director of Administration and General Services, Hajiya Aminatu Rufai Waziri, commended CITAD for its sustained contributions to educational development in the state. He acknowledged the impact of the organization’s ICT-focused interventions and noted that such efforts complement the Kano State Government’s commitment to improving the quality of education.
The Executive Secretary emphasized the importance of integrating ICT into teaching and learning processes, describing digital literacy as an essential skill for students seeking to thrive in today’s knowledge-based economy. He reaffirmed the Board’s readiness to collaborate with organizations such as CITAD whose programmes support innovation, educational advancement, and youth empowerment.
During the engagement, both institutions underscored the need to expand digital learning opportunities to more schools, particularly those in rural and underserved communities where access to technology remains limited. The discussions highlighted the importance of ensuring that all students, regardless of location, have access to the tools and skills necessary to participate effectively in the digital economy.
Leading the delegation, CITAD Agenda WINNING Project Manager, Fatima Babakura noted that the visit was part of the organization’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with key education stakeholders and scale up its interventions in schools. The team shared updates on activities implemented in selected schools and reiterated CITAD’s commitment to supporting efforts that enhance educational outcomes through technology.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration and explore new opportunities for expanding ICT programmes across Kano State.
