DAKWA: CULTIVATING A DIGITAL FUTURE
From fertile land of Zuba corridor to a connected community networks
Dakwa is a close-knit, agrarian community located along the Zuba–Dei-Dei–Zuma corridor, bordering Zuba and Dei-Dei communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Zuma in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. The community is located at approximately 9.1513876, 7.2780146 and the main language spoken is Gbagi. Dakwa has an estimated population of about 3,000 people.
The community is well known for its strong culture of collective action and local leadership. Young people and community members regularly organise themselves to support development activities and improve living conditions through communal efforts.

Agriculture remains the main source of livelihood in Dakwa. Most households depend on farming and small-scale trading, with local food production forming an important part of daily life and the community economy.
As part of its ongoing commitment to digital inclusion and community development, Dakwa now has a functional community network deployed through a partnership between CITAD and Hello World on 21st January,2026. This community network is already serving as a foundation for improving access to information, learning opportunities and digital services for residents.
The hub site is located on land provided by the community, close to existing public facilities and easily accessible to residents. The location makes it suitable for training, learning, and other community-focused digital and social programmes.
Community Contribution and Local Ownership
The Dakwa community has already demonstrated strong ownership of the project. Community members contributed land for the hub, unskilled labour, sand, water and food during the deployment and construction activities. The community also maintains a monthly contributory fund to support collective initiatives.
These contributions, combined with the successful deployment of the community network by CITAD and Hello World, clearly reflect Dakwa’s readiness to sustain and grow digital and community-driven development initiatives.
