In mid-2022, CITAD launched a STATA-based Data Analysis Training program with the objective of enhancing research quality for postgraduates and staff members from public tertiary institutions. The response was overwhelming, with over 1000 applicants applying within two days, indicating the program’s significance in bridging theoretical knowledge and practical data analysis, particularly in the social sciences.
The first two batches were conducted in 2022.
In 2023, four additional batches were conducted, totaling 101 participants trained. The participants comprised 47 females and 54 males, distributed across the batches.
The program, conducted in six batches, focused on the practical application of data analysis skills over a three-day period. Led by Dr. Aminu from Bayero University, the sessions emphasized the critical role of data analysis in societal development and knowledge production. Participants expressed their commitment to utilizing their
newly acquired skills, leading to positive impacts in thesis analysis, research papers, and community knowledge-sharing. The success and positive outcomes position the program as a catalyst for critical knowledge production in Nigeria.
Due to the participants’ interest and CITAD’s commitment to enhancing research quality, other methods of data analysis will be introduced. Furthermore, participants
have demonstrated improved knowledge and understanding of STATA thus far.
