Call for Application: 4th Nigerian School of Community Networks

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) as part of its project on Supporting Community-led Approaches to Addressing the Digital Divide in Nigeria which is part of a larger project on community networks coordinated globally by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is presenting the third School of Community Networks

Community networks are telecommunications infrastructures deployed and operated by a local group to meet their own communication needs and also a communications infrastructure, designed and erected to be managed for use by local communities. This communication needs can be voice, data, e-learning etc. and can be a point of convergence for communities to come together to address their common community problems.

Application Requirement:

1. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, with a minimum of a secondary school certificate.

2. Applicants with IT skills will be considered.

3. Applicants are required to provide an attestation letter from their community kinder.

Benefits of joining the programme:

-Prepares students to advance their IT skills

-Provides a basic understanding of telecoms infrastructures

-The program introduces students to the roles and functions of telecommunication regulators in Nigeria

-It also exposes students to the work of service providers

-Prepare students to bridge the gap between the academy and the industry

-The program also provides opportunities for community members by linking them with supporting agencies (within and outside the country to support bridging the connectivity gap

Condition for Participation:
Applicants must be able to arrange their transportation and accommodation in Kano for the entire duration of the school while CITAD will provide feeding.
